To compare UFC, PFL and ONE, start with the event you might watch: which sport is on the card, what each bout decides, and which rules apply. A promotion's name alone does not answer those questions. A tournament champion, a divisional titleholder and a highly ranked contender describe different achievements.

Compare the bout before comparing the brands

UFC: a rankings page and a booked fight serve different purposes
UFC's 22 June 2026 announcement introduced a transition from media-panel rankings to Meta UFC Rankings, described as using fight data, statistical modelling and machine learning. It says updates follow official UFC events and discusses factors such as opposition, result and recency. Those are the organisation's description of its system; they are not an independent demonstration that its order is objectively correct.
There is a source wrinkle worth noticing: when checked for this guide, the explanatory text on the rankings page still described a media voting panel. Read the dated change announcement alongside that page. This review cannot establish every detail of the implementation from the public text, and does not treat the older FAQ as proof that the announced transition never happened.
For an event, write down the actual booked opponents and title status. Then use rankings to frame a question about their standing, rather than turning a ranking number into an assumed matchup. PFL: specify the competition and the year
The 2025 PFL World Tournament rules describe eight-fighter brackets in eight divisions, with single elimination, semifinals and five-round finals. That is a documented format for 2025, not a current instruction to accumulate regular-season points. The same rules reserve matchup changes to the league and recognise the relevant commission's authority.
PFL then announced official rankings on 27 January 2026, administered by Combat Registry using ballots from MMA journalists and industry experts. Its announcement distinguishes champions from ranked contenders. A rankings list and a tournament bracket describe different things; identify which is relevant to the fight in front of you.
Regional tournaments still need their own reading. PFL's 13 August 2026 Morocco announcement lists a heavyweight main event and separate PFL Africa semifinals for its planned 10 October card. The tournament bouts advance winners toward that regional competition's finals. The heavyweight bout's position at the top of the card does not make it one of those listed semifinals.
Worked reading: put two headings in your notes: “where the bout appears on the card” and “what winning it changes”. A main event answers the first question; a semifinal answers the second. Copy the actual designation beside each matchup instead of assuming every bout on a tournament-branded event has the same consequence. Recheck the announcement for changes before watching.
Where Bellator and MVP fit
Bellator should not be presented as an independently owned rival to PFL without historical context. PFL announced its completed acquisition of Bellator on 20 November 2023. That release discussed plans for Bellator-branded events in 2024; it is not a schedule for 2026.
On 30 July 2026, MVP and PFL announced a merger. The release says the combined business would operate under the MVP banner and describes migration of PFL's MMA operation in the following months. That announcement does not establish that every event, title or broadcast listing has already changed its name. Use the name on the current event page, while preserving Bellator or PFL labels when describing historical results.
ONE: identify the discipline on each line
ONE's published martial-arts rules cover four disciplines. Its MMA decisions assess the whole bout, whereas its Muay Thai and kickboxing decisions use round-by-round ten-point scoring. Submission grappling has a separate system based on legitimate submission attempts, with its own tie criteria. These distinctions matter before you compare two decision results.
Hypothetical viewing choice: you want to study MMA, but the featured ONE bout is labelled Muay Thai. Read the remaining card for MMA bouts and their separate start information. Do not count the headline result in an athlete's MMA record merely because it appeared on a ONE event. Make a viewing decision you can check
- Choose the matchup and discipline. Save the official event link and the date you checked it.
- Record the stakes. Write the exact title or tournament stage, including the year or regional competition where relevant.
- Check access in your country. Confirm the provider, included card segment, replay access and full price. A promotion's list of global partners does not establish your subscription's entitlement.
- Convert the announced start. Use the time converter and calendar download with the listing's own time zone. Recheck the saved entry if the announcement changes.
This produces a concrete comparison: the fights you want, their competitive meaning and the access you actually have. Claims about which company is “best” or pays every fighter better require different evidence. This guide has not audited private athlete contracts, total compensation or audience figures, so it does not turn a prize headline or promotional slogan into that conclusion.
