The Build-Up

Jung had been sidelined for 15 months due to injury and mandatory military service in South Korea. He was 4-1 in the UFC with notable wins over Leonard Garcia twice and Mark Hominick. He entered as a significant underdog. Pettis had trained for months for the Aldo fight before his knee injury forced the change.

Main Event

Jose Aldo (c) vs. Chan Sung Jung — UFC FW Championship

Aldo controlled the opening rounds with leg kicks and takedowns. Jung was competitive and showed the durability expected of him across the first three rounds. Aldo injured his foot in the early stages of the fight. In round four, Jung suffered a shoulder injury. Once the injury occurred, Jung was unable to defend Aldo’s strikes. Referee Herb Dean stopped the fight at 2:00 of round four.

Co-Main Event

Phil Davis vs. Lyoto Machida — Light Heavyweight

Davis defeated Machida by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28). Davis used wrestling and control throughout three rounds. Machida’s movement made the fight competitive but the takedowns and control time swayed all three judges. Machida requested an immediate rematch, citing the closeness of the fight.
